Server Version#: 4.146.0
Player Version iOS#: 2025.17.0 (1082)
I use the LiveTV DVR feature from Plex and have the problem that the icons of the TV channels on iOS and in the web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge etc.) are not displayed.
I use the integration via HDHomeRun via TVHeadend.
I have already set up both servers again and this has unfortunately not fixed the problem.
The Windows app and the macOS app show the icons, the old iOS app also displayed them.
Hi, I have exactly the same issue, running a VBOX Gateway and using its EPG (XMLTV) and Icons as configured it for Plex. Plex server runs on Synology NAS. Connecting the Portal via NAS (not LiveTV App/Web browser) or via “old” Apple TV app works, for all other cases it’s not working (didn’t test Windows). Does anyone know what the problem is? Trusted sites? Ok well on the new Experience App its not working as well…
Thank you, well VBox claims to be compliant with Plex, see below how they link the XMLTV (its via HTTP), or is it within the XMLTV? I cannot adjust it either. However interestingly, PLEX is showing the icons when connected via NAS directly to the server/Web-front-end or always within the Management of Live TV & DVR section… So kind of inconsistency no?
At vBox under Streaming/IPTV → XMLTV File = http://:port/vboxXmltv.xml
Opening the Xmltv.xml on Browser I do not see any links to icons/images, so not sure where to check/validate. My Logos I’ve added is within the vBox itself.
The web browser prevents loading of pictures from http, if the web app has been loaded from https. That is a policy of your web browser, not of Plex.
The local Plex web app (as opposed to the hosted web app) is only loaded per http, because there is no valid security certificate for your NAS. So it might work in this constellation.
If that were the case. you wouldn’t see logos under any circumstances. Those logo picture links cannot come from anywhere else than the EPG, which in your case is the XMLTV file. So look at it in source code mode.
Thanks a lot - appreciated, I can open-up the XLSTV and see it content, but cannot see any URL/links to Icons, so must be somewhere else I assume. But I check again or ask VBox support referring to this post.
But why is it then working on Plex App on Apple TV? In the new Experience versions on Apple TV or iOS it’s not working as it is in the Web (live-TV site).
The new experience apps have stricter security policies implemented. They don’t accept any unencrypted connections. So all connections must use https or similar protocols. Since the channel logos of your VBOX are apparently not available per https, they won’t get fetched in these apps.
Hi, thanks to both of you for your replies. I can confirm that adding the DVR via HTTPS and a hostname with an official certificate and set all up for the XMLTV File works fine.
The problem is that for this setup, I’d have to make my tuner (TVHeadend) accessible from other networks, which would allow anyone to connect and use it.
Is there a way for my Plex server to communicate with my internal tuner, and then make the data for streams and icons available on the web only to logged-in users?
