Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#: 1.74.1.3913
I am having issues with my plex media server
The server is accessible through plex web and all my mobile devices, but on my desktop the library is empty. It even doesn’t show up and the settings of the player also are almost empty. I am using Plex for I guess 7 years now, but never encountered this weird issue. I am a Plex Pass user. What to do? Google didn’t offer any solution.
Close the player, then
Reset the player by
emptying out its data folder.
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Plex
(c:\Users is a hidden folder, so you either need to access it directly or enable the display of hiodden files in Windows file explorer.)
Thank you Otto
I have found The hidden folder, but there are 3 options for Plex in Local = Plex, Plex HTPC and Plex Media Server. Which one to use? I’ve checked them all but could not find a datafolder anywhere. What to do now.?
The right folder for the Plex for Windows player is Plex.
At least that is what you used as tags above.
Okay. Thank you again
There are 8 folders. Which one should I empty?
cache/
inputmaps/
Logs/
Plex Media Server/
QtWebEngine/
scripts/
shader-cache/
shaders/
Remove everything.
I am not able to remove. Can click on them but that is all.
You need to completely close and end the Plex player before attempting this.
Verify using the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+Shift+Esc)
Thank you but still unable to remove. Can do nothing with the folders, just open them but no option to remove.
Do you have more than one Windows user account on this machine? Is the player perhaps still open in another account?
Try a complete reboot of the machine.
No. Perhabs I don’t do it right. I’ve never been in AppData before. How do I remove those folders? This doesn’t work as Windows Explorer. Right click does not give an option either.
It should, though.
Deleting is just selecting the file(s) and pressing the Del key on the keyboard. Just like everywhere else.
If Windows doesn’t let you, you may have not picked the folder of the right user.
Are you using a Microsoft account or a Windows Domain?
Windows domain
Probably with roaming user accounts, right?
Sorry, I have no experience with this. You’ll need to ask your domain admin to do it.
Thank you for everything
