Server Version#: 1.30.1.6497 (docker, latest)
Player Version#: 1.60.1.3413-533a7645 (snap, latest)
I’ve always had the problem that plex picked the wrong audio output device and I had no sound. I could get around this though by going to settings → player → audio device and picking the correct one manually. Starting today whenever I try to do that the “Save changes” button just turns into an endlessly spinning circle and nothing happens. What’s going on there?
Things I’ve tried:
Restarted the computer
Restarted the server
Updated client (snap) to newest version
Updated server (docker) to newest version
Logged out of both server and client and logged back in
Restarted audio on my client with “pulseaudio -k”
Nothing popping up in the Settings → console view
Changing and saving any other settings works just fine
Bumping this issue because it is happening to me as well. You are not able to change any settings in the linux plex client. Like OP I originally ran into this bug when trying to change default audio settings but then I realized it doesn’t save any settings. If clicked the save button just spins indefinitely, no error message and if you close and reopen the plex settings were not changed
This is not present on the browser version or the HTPC linux client (the HTPC client has its own bugs that make it almost unusable). Server install is also fine (seperate pc).
It would be helpful if Plex could at least create debug output in the future when this fails, so we at least have something to go by. Not even verbose debug shows anything so we’re completely in the dark on how to fix this. I will try downgrading to an earlier version tomorrow to see if that helps.
