No longer showing subtitles in Linux

Both Plex for Linux and Plex Linux HTPC no longer show .srt subtitles when they are enabled. Tested in web browsers, and they worth both with Chromium and Firefox. On multiple Arch Linux platforms, tried with the AUR installs, flatpak and snap, the subtitles never show up. They are listed in the menu, but when selected, they are never displayed. This is for both local subtitles as well as those downloaded through the client

Anybody experienced anything like this or have a fix?
