No Metadata - Windows Server 1.13.9.5439

I updated to Plex Server 1.13.9.5439 on Windows this morning. Since then, when new shows are added, it’s not adding any metadata either from TheTVDB or from tags embedded in the file (MP4). Is there a setting I need to update?

First step, is your media named properly? (Naming ‘Series’ & ‘Season’ Based TV Shows) Pay special attention to the requirement for a season folder (yes, even for a single season show), and although it’s not heavily emphasized, get in the habit of using 2 digit season numbers (Season 01 vs Season 1)… this helped me in the past.

Double check your order of preference of metadata agents, or whether a particular agent is enabled at all. I believe the TVDB agent is enabled by default for TV Show libraries, but if your Local Media Assets agent is higher in the list, Plex may see cover art or somesuch in the media folder and stop looking…

Thank you for the information. I am following the naming requirements and in this case I was adding new episodes to an existing show.

I checked the agent settings and actually moved the Local Media Assets to the top of the list. After doing so, Plex pulled some basic info from the media tags. I will double check some additional episodes from various shows when I get them. Perhaps there is just something about the particular show that is not being retrieved properly from TheTVDB. Thanks!

Glad to help! Sometimes Plex need a little help matching, so I either edit the title from the “Get Info” screen and refresh metadata, or just manually match with “Fix Match”. What’s the series in question?

If the series info is missing or incomplete on TVDB, you could add it yourself to “pay it forward”
