Suddenly some of my series are not naming the episodes?

Hi all!
Been using Plex for a couple of years now, suddenly I have found some TV Series are no longer displaying the Title of the episodes, instead they are showing the original file name?

Tried refreshing metadata etc. and no luck?

would you mind sharing an example? (e.g. a screenshot and/or how the files are named / structured)

edit: also… which version of Plex Media Server are you using and on which platform/OS?

Ok Windows 10, Plex Version 1.16.1.1291
1st Picture shows how Plex is displaying the episodes
2nd picture shows the File info re-named by filebot
3rd shows renamed files in directory structure
This has only happened with a few TV Shows, so far…
They were working fine a few weeks ago.

you are downloading mp4 files with embedded metadata that is taking precedence over plex’s metadata.

Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Afterwards, Refresh Metadata.
