No new PMS beta since December 14th?

I realized today that it seemed like it had been a long time since I had to go through the PMS beta update dance on my Plex Servers. Sure enough, December 14th was the most recent one.

This seems like a (very) long gap compared to what is normal. I grok the holidays were in there, but there’s been a month since then. Everything seems to be working fine (even downloads to my iPad as of last night!), but just figured I’d see if there had been a pacing change that we should be expecting. Is this the “new normal” now?

There’s been a major transition in how the building process is done, for all the myriads of platforms and CPU architectures where Plex server is supported on.
The team is still busy sorting out the wrinkles in all of that.

Awesome, and thank you! I had missed that. I’ll be curious to see how this unfolds and what “once a month” actually means.

Things did slow down over the holidays and we’ve been busy migrating a lot of our build tooling for the past few weeks, we’re currently still testing the new PMS builds.

The Plex client app tells me a new version has been released, but something is off still…
The new version is Version 1.40.0.7775, but the link points to PlexMediaServer-1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf-x86_64_DSM7.
The download page also doesn’t list the β and instead only offers version 1.32.8.7639 (even though I’m signed in and your site sees I have a Plex Pass).

It looks like I tried to download right when 1.40.0.7795 had been pulled. Version 1.40.0.7797 is now available and the links work as expected again.

I like that better, seemed that there was a new PMS release every other minute, and I would get an un-ignorable announcement in my Apple TV App right in the middle of viewing… (I don’t know if it is nonignorable on other platforms). Although updating via the announcement like that is pretty quick. In fact I installed 1.40.0.7997 through the nag screen, only took a minute or so for the update to finish. But I had already installed it directly on the PC about half an hour earlier. I don’t know why it forced me to update a 2nd time, and I had closed the app and rebooted the ATV after installing the update on my PC…

And since yesterday, 1.40.0.7998 came out……

That one hasn’t shown up for me yet…

Oh wait! It showed up in my settings… usually it gives me a big nag screen within the Apple TV app, I like installing it from there more because it’s a lot quicker even though it is pretty fast just installing on PC. But it’s automatic when I do it from the Apple TV app, it restarts after installation, I find that very convenient.

Ok great!
