No option to select other audio track?

Is there a way to select the AC3 5.1 audio track before playing a video?  All I see is AAC Stereo with no way to change it.  When I play the video all that outputs is stereo.  When I look at this in Plex web there are two audio tracks but not so on the Xbox at least as far as I can select.  The Xbox is set to Bitstream out for HDMI Audio and the Bitstream format is Dolby Digital.

You can only change it after you start playback (unfortunately)... in the playback menu (pause, rewind etc.) click the "..." menu for options.

So it looks like I can only change it when the video is playing?

Thanks!  Just found that.

This seems like something where we need a setting in the Xbox One app to change the default.  All my files are 2ch AAC as track #1 and 5.1ch AC3 as track #2.  On the xbox I would like to always have it select the multichannel audio track.

Yeah some sort of setting to select the 5.1 track as default would be fantastic.

Update your media server to 0.9.11.0. It has this fix:

  • (XB1) Prefer AC3 to AAC for multichannel audio.

I saw that as well, but i still must manually change to AC3 5.1 for every video I play. Isn't there a way to make this the default??

I agree with this request. Having the ability to set a preference for Xbox One to “Use AC3 5.1 if available” will greatly help the user experience.

It makes no sense to have this capability hidden within the “More” submenu, only visible if you pause a movie after you start it… on a movie-by-movie basis.

Looking forward to this being included in an update.

Also i noticed today while playing some of my movies, when i switched to my 5.1 after start the quality got worse so i did a test and played the movie as default with the stereo track and checked on my computer, it was Direct Play, when i switched to the 5.1 track it was transcoding the video but Direct Playing the audio, maybe someone else could test this maybe its just my movies, i would like to watch my movies in Direct Play mode in 5.1.
