Plex has no dedicated place to report bugs? That is flat out ridiculous
Did you ever think of perhaps reporting them right here?
Just a thought…
I agree. A forum is not a good way to handle bug reports. Good luck trying to get anything fixed - or even just a response - for a bug report here in the forum unless it gets at least a few dozen replies from other users.
I have tried to report a few bugs here in the past years and nearly every time I didn’t even get a response (and of course also no fix).
This forum doesn’t even have a seperate category for bug reports, so those topics are spread over all categories. No surprise most bug reports don’t even get a reply, the devs can’t find them between the hundreds of other discussions!
A real issue tracker with separate fields for versions, status, etc and a way to filter and sort issues would be way better.
And even if your bug report topic gets popular and also gets a reply from a dev, then the forum will just close it 3 months after the last reply. So you have to spam the topic to keep it open. How stupid is this?
I’m sure that Plex has some sort of bug tracking system that they use. They are just not giving everybody access to it. Most companies don’t. And yes, if your bug doesn’t garner enough response it follows that it will not be given a lot of attention. You have no idea if Plex has taken your bug report and filed it into their bug tracking system or the proverbial round file.
Again, you have no idea if your issue is in their bug tracking system.
Look, I agree, having access to their bug tracking system and being able to enter and track your bug is ideal. But I don’t know many companies with proprietary software that expose their internal systems in such a manner. I’m sure that those who do often find it ripe for abuse.
I don’t expect to get access to the internal issue tracking system of Plex. They should create a seperate public one.
Yes, and that is one of the biggest problems!
In that special case of the closed forum topic I know that they have it in their internal system (because a Plex employee confirmed it). But now that the forum topic is closed there is no chance to get any update about that bug. (Creating a new topic will most likely not get any response from a Plex employee.)
If you create a new topic and link the closed thread in there, a moderator can re-open it for you.
This topic was automatically closed 90 days after the last reply. New replies are no longer allowed.
