No Playback error-conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

After upgrade. Started getting error: No Playback error-conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.
synology DS920+ and Roku Ultras
Using a roku ultra…locally i had to change direct play to FORCE in order for the files to play locally. , but all remote users are having this issue on rokus,it gets to 33% then gives error message

No changes were made, just after the update this started. Rebooted Plex and all rokus…still same issue.
Any ideas??
Or how to roll back to previous version of plex on synology DS920+

I had this today also on my Ubuntu server. I tried all sorts, but knew my Nvidia driver version was ahead of the version needed according to the release notes. Long story short, I had to restore a full backup of my server, as even trying to downgrade my PMS failed.

I hope someone, more helpful than me, can come back to you with some pointers on what to try and do to get it fixed. I’m hoping that Plex are aware of this and can push out a fix soon for everyone.

had to turn on FORCE direct play on my roku to play the files locally, but all my remote users still having issues. It’s definitely a update issue…agreed hope plex is aware and push out a fix ASAP

Need information on whats happening here in order to get it fixed.

May I get DEBUG logs zip please which capture the playback failure ?

Roll back on Synology -

  1. Uninstall package (KEEP option on DSM 7)
  2. Install desired SPK
  3. Start
  4. WAIT for 503 (temporarily unavailable) database schema changes to finish.

@ChuckPa I know @HAT_PLEX_GHOST is on a different OS, but my problem seem similar, here’s some log files I captured. Let me know if you need the other files also.
Plex Logs.zip (1.0 MB)

where do i get the previous SPK?
Here are my logs…

Plex Media Server Logs_2023-01-11_14-23-24.zip (2.3 MB)

You didn’t keep the 90 MB SPK file you just downloaded? :scream: :roll_eyes: lol

@HAT_PLEX_GHOST

PLEASE turn DEBUG logging back on and capture again ??

I can’t see anything with it off. It doesn’t ‘cost more’ with DEBUG on (Logs are fixed size)

@Minxster

Same to you please.

i wanted the previous version before the update. That is the one i’m looking for

here is the new logs…
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-01-11_14-42-48.zip (2.5 MB)

which version number please.

There were 4 different versions floating around for a bit there.

“version before the update” or “version before the broken update which was fixed in the current update which fixed a previous update” ? :rofl:

Package Center now has 1.29.2 (thankfully)

ok… where is the package center to get version 1.29.2

@HAT_PLEX_GHOST

1.29.2 is now available from Synology :sunglasses:

They finally updated Package Center.

“Newest Online Version” will show as 1.29.2

Search for it and package center will offer it up for your machine.

within the synology package center?

DUH…thank you…

Should be subtle burning. Will attempt another update shortly and make sure to enable debug logs.

Thanks,

I’m still not able to repro here.

@ChuckPa Here’s the logs with debug turned on. I re-updated PMS and seems to have the same issue(s). Also, if it helps, my current Nvidia driver : NVIDIA-SMI 515.86.01 Driver Version: 515.86.01 CUDA Version: 11.7
