No players found

When I start Plex for Windows and click the cast icon on top, the only player found is “Plex for Android” running on my Galaxy S22 Ultra.

None of the 12 WiiM Pro Plus devices are found.
Neither are the 2 Chromecast Audio, 1 Chromecast Ultra, and 2 Chromecast with Google TV.
Neither are the 3 Marantz receivers (NR1603, SR7011 and SR8015).
Neither are any of the software DLNA renderers (BubbleUPNP, JRiver).
Neither are the 3 Fire Stick 4K.
Neither is Sony UBP-X800 Blu-ray player.

Even if I select audio or video and try to play it, the player list remains the same in the Plex for Windows desktop app.

If I use Chrome on the same Windows computer, and use the More / Save and share / Cast menu option, the device list includes all the WiiM, Chromecast, Chromecast groups, Fire sticks, and Blu-ray player.

On the other hand, the Android app lists all the WiiM and Chromecast players, including groups, do show up in the list. The Marantz, BubbleUPNP and JRiver players still don’t show.

FYI, all devices are - phone, desktop, stickss are in the same /24 IP network. Nearly all of them are wired using Ethernet, except the phone. A good chunk are hooked up to meshed Wifi APs via Ethernet. PMF are disabled on the Wifi side.

Server Version#: 1.40.3.8555 for Windows

Plex cannot act as a DLNA controller – i.e. it cannot cast to DLNA renderers.

Only Plex clients running in a Google-owned environment (i.e. in the Chrome web browser or on Android) can cast to Chromecast devices.
(There is an analogous restriction for casting to Apple AirPlay clients, btw.)

Plex itself can only cast to other Plex apps. Depending on the Plex app, it might need the help of a Plex server in the same local network to act as a companion relay.

Thanks. That’s unfortunate. I’m a Firefox user, on both desktop and mobile. I guess that means I can only cast from mobile.

My 3 Marantz receivers all support Airplay and DLNA, but not the Chromecast protocol.
I believe the Fire sticks support Miracast, but they have to be manually put into that mode first for it to work.
Not sure what the Blu-ray player supports.
