Just bought a new Sony TV as my last TV died. So got a Sony AG8 65, which is nice but cannot seem to find a Plex app on the store. I can install Kodi and then add Plex as an app, but not Plex directly on the TV apps through google play store. Anyone else had any similar issues with this model of Sony TV?
I’m trying to verify but I believe that a native Plex app for Sony smart TVs is no longer supported…
The TV runs Android and has Google Play Store access (tech specs).
The Plex Android TV app should be available in the store (unless there is some reason the app is incompatible with the TV).
Sign in to the Google Play Store on the TV. This registers the TV with the Google Play Store.
If you cannot find the Plex app via the TV, you may be able to push it to the TV via your laptop/desktop.
Go to the Google Play Store on your computer, search for Plex, and select Install. You should be presented with a list of registered devices. If listed, select the Sony TV then click on Install. The app should be pushed to the TV within a few minutes.

Thanks for the replies. I tried as suggested and got a not compatible, the same message I get when using the browser on the TV. The app is not showing on any search I do on the store on the TV either
I think you are right. To get around it you can install the Kodi app and then add Plex as an add-on, not ideal but a workaround. Not sure why it is no longer available?
Your screen shot shows Plex Media Server. You don’t install the Plex Server onto your TV. You install “Plex for Android” (a Plex client app).

Hi, yes you are right I just posted the wrong screenshot. When I search for the app I get the options below and all 3 have the same result.
Hopefully Plex can figure out why the app is incompatible and address the issue.
An alternative to Kodi is an Amazon FireTV 4K or Roku Premiere. They are currently on sale for $30 - $35 USD. If you could repurpose it to another TV it would not totally be “throw away money” if/when the Plex app is available for your TV.
Depending on your level of adventurousness, you could try side-loading the Plex app to your TV. Google “side load Android TV,” “side load Sony Android TV,” or similar. You can download the APK from the announcement thread.
