Is there any chance to launch plexmedia on sony tv?
The TV has worked fine with the Plex server on the integrated Sony media player, but doesn't show subtitles and media info..
The TV is: KDL-xxW80x

I honestly don't know how well any of the Smart-TV apps work, since I don't use any of them myself.
All I can guarantee is that a PlexPass subscription will let you visit that subforum through the link provided (or by normal browsing).
However, from what I could see in the thread that link leads to, it does NOT contain any links to any Sony app.
That thread is in a subforum for membership voting on suggested features and bug fixes, and that thread mainly contains suggestions that such an app should be created. But I don't think those suggestions have led to any real developments as yet. (Even though the thread itself is now over a year old, started on the 13'th of January 2013.)
Also, on the Plex home page the supported brand logos do not include Sony, so I'm fairly sure that no such app exists as yet.
The best you can hope for then is to use the ability of PMS to also act as a DLNA server, and use a generic DLNA client app on the TV.
This is similar to how a Sony PS3 console can access media of a PMS server, through its built-in DLNA client.

I've tried Opera Store (can't find plex on it, even if google says it is there).
I'm very disappointed about this as I have great picture quality but no really good films to watch until I get
this sorted.

Ditto. Please be aware that Plex won't playback any 4K videos yet. We're eager to look into 4K support.

The tv shows pled as a media but it loads as a poor media display.

I think sony would sell more tv's if Plex was easily compatible, as the picture quality is fantastic.

There is a plex app on the opera store for Bravia tv's BUT it will not install onto the tv and you have to go to the store each time you want to run it, There is also issues with the player as it will not allow 3d, even the playstation app will play 3d
Yes I’ve just installed the app, entered the pin,accepted the pin, then it keeps showing a new pin… The app does indeed not show up within the apps installed and you do indeed have to go to the opera store to run it. Then it says I have to be a plex pass member, sorry but that’s not good enough, I wish I got the Samsung TV, as there is no charge to run plex.
Have waited a long time for plex on sony tv, only to be disappointed.
Plex has been more pain than it’s worth, countless hours to get it to run, and I still can’t get a fully synced library on my iPad. Any idea why.?

I understand the frustration and the team is looking into a couple of things already like an availability list on which model exactly it can be installed and a fix so settings will stay saved and ofcourse a way to add the app to the home screen (instead of having to go into opera every time). 3D is something that needs to be looked at.
As soon as the update is out it will be posted on the forums.
My Sony BDP-S590 blu-ray player runs the Opera TV store and is listed on the "Compatible TVs" link in the Plex for Opera TV download page. However, I can't find Plex in the Opera TV store on my player. Is this supposed to be available? Also, is there a way to read about the capabilities of the app and maybe try it out without paying to be a Plex Pass member? Thanks.
