I am not a super user by any stretch so please reply in a “plex for dummies” manner. All help is appreciated.
I had media server on a mac (El Capitan), finally watched a youtube video that helped me FINALLY get the Remote Access to work with AT&T unverse. I had to go into the settings and add Plex as a gaming server or something to that effect. After that the Remote access seemed to stay active. Then I thought I would go try the PlexPass so I signed up for a month just to try it. Might be coincidence but now the Remote access will not stay active. Just for grins I have installed the Media Server on a laptop we are not using, Windows 10, 32bit, and same thing - Remote access will not stay active.
Not sure what other details I need to provide. Operating on wifi.
I think that this would be a great app or whatever if it would work and if there was actual tech support. A lot of what I have tried to figure out on my own is over my head. I just need someone to tell me what I need to do.
I have the same problem with similar expertise. Have spent last 3 days trying to solve no remote access problem to no avail. A live tech support with ability to access my PC would be a godsend. Guess I will have to look for alternative media server.
I have to Close Plex and Restart my Windows 10 Server, Reset my modem and router for my Remote access to come back. This happens every time we lose power or Plex media server is updated.
All of my work to resolve this issue, including me getting it working and then it not working again was in a matter of hours. Granted it’s been months since I first installed media server and have just not had some time to spend on this. Wish it didn’t consume my entire afternoon with no results.
