No skip intro on certain seasons of a show ? help

does anyone here know a fix for this issue please ? thanks

Have you tried manually analyzing the season to see if it triggers it? Alternately, what show is it? Are the intros acoustically identical?

thanks for reply, yeah i tried that even down to each episode … and still nothing , its bobs burgers the tv show

ive just deleted my tv library and re added it to see if that does the trick

update… the re adding of the tv library didnt work

Is the intro slightly shorter than usual? Some shows in their 2nd/3rd season do a more condensed intro, that is more like 10 seconds long instead of a full 30 or more seconds. If so, Plex may find that it is too “short” and thinks it is not the intro, so it doesn’t mark the intro.

As far as I have tried, I never got them to be identified either. I think the threshold for what Plex sees as an intro is 10 seconds or longer.

no with bobs burgers its a 20 second intro

You might be right at the threshold where it decides not to mark it

yeah i think maybe it was slightly under the 20 secs maybe 19 i just counted, would that still cause the issue even if its only a 1 second off ?

is this problem fairly common then ? for some episodes the buttom prompt shows for skip intro , but for others (next episode for instance) shows nothing

yep i think that was my issue the bobs burgers intro fell just under 20 at around 18-19 give or take

but for south park the intros are huge and they are 30 secs plus but no skip button … :frowning:

sorry but even now im still having issues analized all data, removed folder then re added, scanned a few times , closed refreshed , restared pc ect still not working corretly does anyone know of a possible solution ? thanks

Not really. The “Skip Intro” feature is largely out of our control. I wish that not only would it be more easy and obvious on how to force a skip intro check, but that we had some control over fixing incorrect intro markers themselves.

The only advice I have are as follows:

  1. Plex seems to try to analyze for intro when I analyze episodes in bulk. This does not mean I click the triple dot on an entire season or show and hit analyze, I mean you must go into a season, and select each episode by clicking on the circle that appears to the left of the poster when you hover the mouse over it. Once you select each episode, try doing an analyze by clicking on the new menu that appears up top in yellow and choosing analyze. You can quickly select all items in a season by pointing to the text that lists the number of episodes, and clicking the circle that appears there.
    Select

  2. If all else fails, try to plex dance the show itself. Nuking the entire library is a bit much, but a quicker method is to dance the show (or just the season) itself. I’ve had some success getting the intro markers corrected when I danced the files. Method #1 up above might work as well now, but the old way that I know works (if it works) is the dance.

thank you very much and apologies for a late reply its late here and my baby was asleep , so is what im experiencing with some episodes working and others not loading the skip intro button common at all then would you say ?

Only “some” episodes in a season are not showing the skip intro button? Unless those particular episodes have a shortened or modified intro, this shouldn’t happen. If there are intro markers (Get Info button, then click View XML, search for something like <Marker id="XXXXX" type="intro"), then most (all?) clients should show it for that episode. I don’t know of any particular issue that might cause an episode WITH markers to not allow you to skip…

Keep in mind, the way Plex detects intros is it analyzes the audio of the intro. If it finds a 20+ second section in the first half that VERY closely matches that in other episodes in the same season, it figures that is the intro, and marks it as such. If anything interrupts that 20 seconds (like the simpsons couch gag) with different audio, Plex won’t see that as an intro any more.
