When the skip intros came out I did a scan of my library to determine the intros for TV shows and it worked on my iPad Plex app and my Nvidia Shield TV. Between that time and today they just stopped working. I have checked multiple TV shows on both the Nvidia Shield TV Plex, iOS Plex app and the web Plex and skip intro never pops up on multiple shows (Brooklyn 99 was one it did work and it stopped working also). I have not changed anything I know of and I even did a analyze of my TV library to see if that fixes and nope still not showing the option to skip. Unsure why this just stopped working since everything is set for, I don’t think you need to set anything in the plex apps.
Check Settings -> Server -> Library and make sure Generate intro video markers is scheduled.
Also, check your TV Show libraries. Edit the library, choose Advanced, make sure the box for Enable intro detection is checked.
You can view the XML for a show an episode to see if Plex has detected an introduction.
Pull up the XML (see Investigate Media Info support document), and look for a line similar to: <Marker type="intro" startTimeOffset="1114" endTimeOffset="61123"/>
It will be towards the bottom of the XML information, in the bottom five or so lines (that is where it is located for my tv shows).
All those items are checked and selected in the two places for Intros. I look at the XML of a show I don’t see the Marker type=“intro” anywhere listed. No idea why I am not seeing this in my intro information. I am a Plex Pass user also.
If Analyze does not detect the intros, you can try Plex Dancing the show. That will force Plex to re-analyze everything for the show - intro detection, generate new preview thumbnails, etc. You will lose any watch history, as you’re completely removing the show from Plex then adding it back.
When you add the show back, you can monitor the analysis by clicking on the Activity icon in Plex Web.
Suggest you do this with a show you know had intro detection before, as Plex does not detect intros for all shows.
Edit: Dance the entire show or at least a full season, not individual episodes.
To Plex Dance the show:
Movie the show to a location not scanned by Plex.
Scan the library to pick up changes (the show should be removed from the library)
The skip intro info is only shown at the episode level, not the show level. Not sure if you really meant to say Show or not. Also, what web app are you using? If it’s the local one that came with PMS, I don’t believe that version supports skip intro so it won’t show the marker info in the XML. You need to check using the hosted Plex Web.
Analyzing your library won’t trigger the skip intro detection. That only works at a shows, season or episode level.
Shows that haven’t had this done will get automatically analyzed during the automated tasks that occur overnight. Make sure you didn’t turn this off or that you don’t have other things also running that may take up all the time so it never gets around to doing the analysis.
