No sound on PS4 Movies & TV on PLex

And so?
Any feedback on this?

22/11/2020 - Latest PS4 update and latest plex update. I can tell you why you are experiencing this problem and why everyone with a ps4 is experiencing problem.

The person converting it or the ps4 app is not recognizing the Audio Codec, I’ve had this issue before with converting one of my videos with a particular codec and I think this is the same issue.

What codec is plex using for this films? Because it can’t just be the users playstation 4 if everyone is suffering from the issue. Some of the old video uploads work, but many of the recent uploads don’t. Whoever is uploading this films I think they should try a different audio codec.

Well, same here - ads have sound, movies and shows doesn’t. Since this issue is open for a long time, I guess noone on plex side is willing to solve it. So I want to use the app any longer. It’s ridiculous.

Has there been any progress on this issue? I have the same issue and can provide example. I get sound from The Wraith, no sound from Zulu (both movies appearing in the Most Popular list of Movies on Plex). Please advise, very keen to get the sound working

Obviously this is pointless, they are uploading movies that I may want to see but the person converting them doesn’t have clue what’s going on!!

I use ‘handbrake’ converter to convert my movies, atube ‘AVI DIVX MPEG4’ profile if it’s copyrighted/protected then handbrake to convert the file, my basic settings for the audio conversion is AAC 2.0 Ch, Audio Codec: (fAAC) samplerate: 22.05, bitrate: 96, DRC:0.0

Whoever is converting these films should really use the “(fAAC)” codec as it’s compatible with PS4.

Right, I just had a look at the conversions and found why it’s not working.

The Wraith = Protocol: MP4/DASH (COMPATIBLE WITH PS4)
Most of other videos = mpegts/hls (NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PS4)

This is the problem. PLEX, Check your films, they ALL need to be converted correctly to MP4/DASH, whatever you used on the movie “The Wraith” is what you should be using.

We are looking into it

Thanks for the patience all. We believe we’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix that we hope to roll out soon.

An update is now rolling out that should resolve this issue.

This now works perfectly for all the shows that didn’t have sound for me. thank you.
