No Title

Hi I have an issue with a TV show not showing episode names on Plex.
The TV show in 1985 MacGyver.
Plex has found the Right show, and even gives the blurb for each episode but it does show the title of the episode, just DVD_VIDEO.
I have the same show in Emby, same folder, name of show etc and it shows the title of each episode.

Any Ideas?

I suppose your videos are in mp4/m4v and you have local media assets enabled for this library?
This appears to be a title included in the embedded metadata – some ripping sw transfers the disc name into a title tag.

Your options are:

  • delete the embedded metadata
  • reduce the priority of Local Media Assets (TV) in Settings > Server > Agents > TV Shows > [TheTVDB or The Movie Database?] or disable Local Media Assets (TV) entirely.

I was unsure how to delete the embedded metadata so i followed the 2nd suggestion you gave and this has worked.
