Plex is appending TV show name to each episode title

I added two tv shows to my server, and each episode name for both shows are showing like this:
TV Show Name S01E01 Episode 1 Name
TV Show Name S01E02 Episode 2 Name
TV Show Name S01E03 Episode 3 Name

I tried to pull info from The Movie DB and TVDB and the same thing happens with both sources regarding the episode names. This happens for every season of the TV show that I added. I’d like only the episode name to show as the episode name.

I am running Plex Media Server on Windows Server 2016

If it is an mp4 the it may have the file names in the title field of embedded metadata. Some ripping programs do this. If it does then the simplest solution is to move local media assets below the others in your agent settings. Or use some metadata editor to remove/correct it.

Yes, very likely embedded metadata.

Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
