I’ve used Plex for Windows for a while now, and this headset (Razer Kraken) has been working fine for the past month.
Last night I discovered that my movies seemed to have no voices in them, only background sounds (and sometimes not even that).
Chrome, Spotify, VLC all work fine and I hear everything. In order to get Plex to let me hear voices, I have to troubleshoot my headset and reinstall the driver. If I select a different movie, this will have to be repeated.
The only change in the past few days was that I updated my Plex server.
I have looked for HDMI passthrough options I’ve seen in other posts, but I can’t seem to find that setting if it’s in the Plex for Windows application. I feel like this is an issue that must be my fault, but I genuinely cannot understand what I could have done. Every other sound creating application I have works fine, it seems to just be Plex but I’m not sure. Again, this issue seems to only happen with movies, my shows seem to work fine on the ones I’ve tested.
Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this.
Edit: For now I have switched back to Plex Media Player, which works perfectly fine. The only reason I switched to Plex for Windows was to be able to use desktop mode. TV mode is odd to use on PC for me, but I will use it if that’s what I have to do now.
Okay thanks. I only stopped using PMP because of the little pop up telling me they would be removing desktop mode from future builds.
Just makes no sense that one minute Plex for Windows works fine and then decides to stop working. If I’m forced to use TV mode I’ll just have to get used to using my keyboard to navigate I guess!
For the moment PMP lives on the TV, in TV View, opens and closes there, automatically uses the Windows Audio Features - particularly the Loudness Equalization - and I control it with a wireless mouse for a while, then switch to the Plex app in my phone to ‘cast/mirror’ to PMP.
Plex for Windows opens on the desktop secondary monitor - in case I need it here - often - as I do. It also automatically uses the Windows Audio Features (best thing since perforated TP Sheets).
For the time being life is ‘almost’ perfect.
Plex will probably do something to upset this balance - see Martha in the Village Armory if a Villager Uprising occurs.
90% of the time I use Plex on my PC, so I was using Plex for Windows because it’s easier to use desktop mode than TV mode for me. When I saw they would be removing desktop mode from PMP I just made the switch.
Thankfully I had an old version of PMP still installed, so I can use that for now. Like I said, if I have to use TV mode I can live, just will take getting used to navigating with my keyboard or connecting a controller.
Just can’t understand how ending a movie and then starting the next all of a sudden almost no movies have audio. It’s the weirdest thing. Oh well
I use this headset for everything, and it’s worked since I got it last month. No idea why it would stop working now, but I’ve switched back to Plex Media Player for now, since that works still. Thankfully I still had it installed, since it seems you can no longer download it.
If I accidentally forget and update and am forced to use TV mode in PMP, I’ll just have to deal with it. Cannot figure out why my headset all of a sudden doesn’t work with only movies in Plex for Windows. TV shows seemed fine, from the 10 or so I tried.
