No write access to destination - Plex on WIN10 desktop / storage WD PR4100

I was running the plex server on my WD PR4100 but I uninstalled the Plex server from WD PR4100 and installed it on a WIN10 desktop, setup live TV/DVR in the Plex server and use the WD PR4100 now only as a storage device. I also own Plex Pass.

Everything works except when I try to record a live TV show, I get “No Write Access to Destination”. I am able to copy files from the desktop to the PR4100 “TV Show” share without any issues. The TV Shows share is setup as a PUBLIC share and any PC has full R/W access. All devices are on the same network. I am also able to watch live TV from other PC’s.

I am not sure what is generating the error message, therefore, I am not sure where the error is being generated.

Appreciate your help.

It’s probably erroring out when the recording is finished and it tries to move it to the destination library.

Make sure when you set up the recording that the correct library is selected and the correct folder location (if it asks for one).

Hello sixxnet, I believe I did select the correct folder, as I recall PLEX recommended the default TV Shows folder. However, I wanted to be sure, so I deleted the DVR and added it back in but this time it did not ask, therefore, I expect it cached the location in some config file. I tried to do a recording again, and I received the same error. I am stumped, the NAS is configured to not require authentication. I think I have a simple configuration, Plex on a PC writing to a NAS.

Can you reproduce the problem and immediately after grab the server logs and post here. If you do make sure debug is on and verbose is off.

Thank you for the next step - Sorry, but I will not be able to do this for about a week and a half to help with a family issue.

The location is stored in the “recording job”. It won’t be deleted if you remove the DVR setup.
Head over to “Live TV” - “DVR Schedule” and click on each recording job on the right side of the screen.

Sorry, I was away my 4 legged son who had lymphoma passed away.

Today I created an additional TV show folder on the local PC that I have PLEX running on and currently it appears it is saving the file - it is currently recording. I will monitor if that completes, assuming so, I will have to go back and try to update the security privileges on the mapped drive to my NAS. I tried to do that previously, but I had issues with those modification. Thank you.
