I was running the plex server on my WD PR4100 but I uninstalled the Plex server from WD PR4100 and installed it on a WIN10 desktop, setup live TV/DVR in the Plex server and use the WD PR4100 now only as a storage device. I also own Plex Pass.
Everything works except when I try to record a live TV show, I get “No Write Access to Destination”. I am able to copy files from the desktop to the PR4100 “TV Show” share without any issues. The TV Shows share is setup as a PUBLIC share and any PC has full R/W access. All devices are on the same network. I am also able to watch live TV from other PC’s.
I am not sure what is generating the error message, therefore, I am not sure where the error is being generated.
Hello sixxnet, I believe I did select the correct folder, as I recall PLEX recommended the default TV Shows folder. However, I wanted to be sure, so I deleted the DVR and added it back in but this time it did not ask, therefore, I expect it cached the location in some config file. I tried to do a recording again, and I received the same error. I am stumped, the NAS is configured to not require authentication. I think I have a simple configuration, Plex on a PC writing to a NAS.
The location is stored in the “recording job”. It won’t be deleted if you remove the DVR setup.
Head over to “Live TV” - “DVR Schedule” and click on each recording job on the right side of the screen.
Sorry, I was away my 4 legged son who had lymphoma passed away.
Today I created an additional TV show folder on the local PC that I have PLEX running on and currently it appears it is saving the file - it is currently recording. I will monitor if that completes, assuming so, I will have to go back and try to update the security privileges on the mapped drive to my NAS. I tried to do that previously, but I had issues with those modification. Thank you.
