Non-Legacy Plex Movie Scanner file/folder names {tmdb-id}

Per the documentation here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

If using the (non-“Legacy”) Plex Movie agent available in Plex Media Server v1.20.1 and newer, you can also include the IMDb or TheMovieDB ID number in curly brackets to help match the movie. It must follow the form {[source]-[id]} .

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}
      Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}.mp4

My question is, does the {tmdb-id} need to be present in BOTH the foldername and filename, in order for this to work?

I would prefer to keep my folder names clean and without tags

Would this be acceptable, for the scanner to match the files exactly using TheMovieDB ID?

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005)
      Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}.mp4

In my experience, yes. That should be sufficient.

Unless you have duplicate movie names such as Alone (2020). There are at least two movies with this title and year.

Using the ID in the filename is enough for correct matching, whichever version of Alone (2020) you have.

But if you have two versions - I agree. That’s a clever way to differentiate between the versions.
