I want to put the ID (TVDBid, TMDBid, IMDBid…) in the name. Some questions regarding this:
I can read here and there on Plex forums that TMDBid is the best id for Plex, at least for movies (Instead of ImdbId). Can you confirm? Is it also the case for the TV Shows (Instead of TVDBId)? I don’t want to have 3 differents IDs in the folder or file name, so I would like to chose one of them.
For movies I use “{Movie Title} ({Release Year})” for folder, then “{Movie Title} ({Release Year}) {tmdb-{TmdbId}}” for file name. Is it enough for Plex or I should put the TmdbId in the folder name also?
Thx in advance for your feedback / experience on the topic.
To add to what @tom80H said I wanted to say that it is almost always enough to just have the
Name (Year)
for both. I don’t use IMDB IDs or any other for my content. In fact, the only problems I had were when I didn’t use the year for something, for instance Tomorrow People (2013). Because I didn’t use the year at that time it matched a previous one and I had to fix the match and discovered there was a 1973 and a 1992 show that had the same name.
The only hints I’ve actually used and found I had to use were for different editions of movies for extended versions and theatrical releases so the exceptions to my naming of Name (Year) would be Name (Year) {edition-Theatrical Release}
In my experience Plex has done a good job of matching my content with that naming.
