Non-network based remote control options

Looking for options to control the Windows Desktop client for plex.

I want to be able to download content to the laptop and stream it to a TV via HDMI, and remote control playback.

Looks like you can use your phone app to control Plex desktop, but this seems to be working over the network.

My primary use is going to be in a hotel room where I may or may not want to join my laptop and/or phone to hotel WiFi, so I am looking for an option that would use either a bluetooth or IR based remote.

Does anything like this work and is more turnkey than an auto-hotkey macro mapping solution with a windows media center remote?

Usually I’ll recommend Plex HTPC for that purpose(as it supports controllers/remotes to navigate/control the app. However Plex HTPC doesn’t support downloading media through the app (or accessing downloaded media).

Really, any bluetooth or IR based wireless PC controller solution is probably usable. There are tons of wireless mice or keyboard+touchpad combos available.

Well I feel dumb. Yeah for works I always have a wireless mouse with me so I can just use that.
