Noob can't figure out why library does not show on local NAS

I’m a bit of a noob, but I eventually stumble on to solutions. But I could really use a short-cut here.

My NAS was not connecting lately, so I pulled it back into the office and put it on a physical connection, so I could get the wifi dongle working again. I mention this in case there is a networking root to my issue I might not be aware of.

My issue is that when I log into my qnap nas locally and launch the Plex Home Theatre App, it does not show my library, just Search and Watch Later. However , if I log into the NAS from another system on the network and launch the Plex app from there in the browser, the library shows fine.

I know there was some sort of update (or lack thereof) that brought a lot of Plexes down lately. I have manually installed the new server update.

But I can’t figure out why on the local device it can’t see the files when they can be seen from other systems accessing the app via a browser. It’s like the local launch of the app is not able to point to the files on it’s own hard-drives.

One clue might be that remotely, I’m using the plex media server…not the home theater. I’ll start to look into that avenue. Clearly some settings got lost. I’m finding this app in QnapClub section of app center…

btw, other locally run video players do see my library.

What I think I’m figuring out is that the Plex Media Server is running fine (but I don’t see an option to launch that when I access the NAS locally…I can’t add that to HD station (which is what I think runs locally on NAS). My only options are Home Theater and Plex Media Player - but those won’t run when I launch them remotely on other systems. Even though they say they are installed fine and running, maybe they are not working somehow.

I’m sure it’s a simple issue, but I’m so noobish it’s taking up a lot of time trying to sort this out. Anyone have a tip? Thanks

Ok, seems my stuff was just very outdated and things changed without my knowing.

Plex Home Theater is no longer a thing. And my Plex Media Player was also outdated and broken, because I had an old repo (whatever that was),

So, I guess all is good now… used to have live TV (not that I need it in plex) but it looks like they took that out…Somehow I used to have it.

Admins, feel free to delete this whole thing if it is not helpful or too convoluted to help anyone else.
