Normalize audio from movies

Hey Plex team,

I would like to request a feature that would make a Plex client normalize the audio from a video file.

Most movies have different volume levels from movie scene to movie scene. Like dialogues between

characters are much less loud then scenes with shooting/explosives.

This causes me to constantly having my TV remote control in my hand to adjust the volume because I

dont want my neighbors to be bothered by my movie.

Could it be possible to set a "maximum audio output level" or something like that? When the Plex client notices

that the audio volume output is more then ... dB then it automatically and directly adjust the volume within the client.

Thank you for reading this.

This is not really a plex issue, tho it would be great if they could adjust for it.....

The reason that this happens usually is because you don't have a center speaker in your setup. The source is designed for a 5.1 setup and you have something less.

The reason the dialogue get's quiet is because it is all coming out the center speaker not L/R.

Most of the time if you set your system / device to output properly for the number of speakers this problem goes away.

Early 2021 clean-up: partial implemented (current generation clients have an option to increase the volume for surround playback on a stereo environment)
