Not all content applicable content available for Kids Managed User

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488

Hi

I have set up a Kids manager user on my server and restricted the movies to G, PG, gb/U and gb/PG but when I browse the library, not all the content that meets this criteria is shown by default.

I am able to see all the content within “Recently Added” on the homepage but when I click onto the library itself, it shows less than half.

The only way I have found to show all the content is the change the sort from the default “By Title” to something else. It will then show everything I want to be available.

Anyone know how I can get them all the show when sorted by Title because this is baffling me?

Thanks

Have you created a lot of Collections?

Here’s a theory: Collections have age ratings as well. And if a Collection has an age rating that is not one of the ‘allowed’ for that user, this user might not see any movie that is part of this collection.

Thanks for the quick reply. That was it!

None of the collections had an age rating. I added a ‘kids’ tag to them all for now to get around it.

Thank you!

I am running in to this issue right now. I just made a Studio Ghibli collection, but my small kids aren’t quite ready for all of those movies yet. Is there a way that they can see just the part of the collection I want them to see?

If you set up a home account for the kids, you can use the sharing label (in the collection/video settings) to share specific items from a collection. You need to do two things: First, enable sharing in the collection, by adding the label for the kids’ account. Then go to individual movies inside the collection and label them with the same kids account.

Afterward, log in with the kids account and browse. it should show the collection you labeled, and inside that, just the movies you individually labeled.

Plex does have a bug in this scenario: It can show the “next movie” and it’ll be the next movie, regardless of whether sharing was enabled for it. However, that movie is not playable. The poster is visible though.

Perfect! I figured out sharing the individual movies, but I missed sharing the collection. It’s good to know that sharing the collection doesn’t automatically share ALL the movies inside it.
