Not all devices shown in authorized devices

Hi,

there are a lot of client devices there not shown in authorized devices. Formally devices from my plex home users. Is there anything I can do to let them show in the authorized devices list?

Best Regards
Oliver

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639

Hi, when I use the API URL [local IP]:[local port]/devices/?X-Plex-Token=[my-token] I can see all authorized devices. My question is, how can I delete some of them, they are not shown in the web frontend.

Hello Oliver

The Authorized devices you see in the web client https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/all are devices, that can login to your account using your credentials, and you can delete them using the web client

The devices you see when browsing to [local IP]:[local port]/devices/?X-Plex-Token=[my-token] is a placeholder for all devices on all users, that has accessed your server, and is used to store the client identifier, so you can get notified if a new device all of a sudden signs into your server.
The list can not be altered in any front-end tool

If you really want to edit that list, and I fail to see why, since it’s only a lookup list, it’s stored in the database com.plexapp.plugins.library.db in the device table, and can be done using SQLite tools

If doing so, remember to power off your PMS first, and make sure you have a valid backup of the database!

Hi dane22,

thanks a lot for your detailed reply.

My problem is, that there are some clients could connect to my server, I don´t see in the web client setting. But I can see them in history list with all the stuff they have used.

When it is a possible workaround to edit the device table, I will test it. Or do you know a better way to block that devices I didn’t see in web client settings?

They are not authorized, so the only way they can connect, is by using a valid user/pwd

And you control user access by granting library access

Hi dane22,

in my opinion the most of that devices get access over the 4-charaters code from plex.tv/link. So most devices are Tizen TV, PS4, xbox and similar devices. They never insert a user/pwd. This are devices from home users. All devices from my main account I could see in web client. But all the devices from the home users I didn’t see.
All users now have their own Plex accounts to which they are connected. But some devices are still connected via the old home user. Will the connection be disconnected if I delete the home user? Theoretically, the user could simply take another home user and continue watching with that one, right?

When doing above, one must be signed into Plex

So the devices with show in the Authorized device list of the person, that linked it to his account

If you with above means a managed user, then the device is yours!

And if in doubt, you can change your password in your user profile, and while doing that, make sure the checkbox for Sign out connected devices after password change is selected

You will have to login again on all your devices afterwards

Ok, thanks for the hint. I’ll start by resetting the password and see what happens.

Thank you very much.

One thing of note with the authorized devices you see in the web client: If they’re not signed in with the home admin account, but rather a managed account, they will not update their status. This includes the last accessed date, as well as the current version. Due to this “feature”, which I’ve reported here as a bug before, any device not signed in with the admin account every once in a while will simply drop off the list after a few months. This does not affect their authorization status.

Hi VBB,

thanks for the hint, I think that will be excactly my problem.

@all: Is there perhaps a solution or workaround for this?
