Not Allowed to use Hetzner

I got some info that a guy running Plex on OVH also just got that message today.
Already expanding to other providers?

I would suggest, that all (legitimate) users affected by this and all users who don’t support the actions Plex will take, should take the protest to the public (Appstore ratings, Facebook, X, you name it…). Lets hit them where it really hurts. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Seems this thread is shadowbanned from the main forum

You would hope, however you would be wrong. Hell the server I host at Hetzner has on average 10hrs a month of media played. Among all of the users I that have access to my Libraries (Friends and Family). 10hrs a month out of the average 400hr+ a month on my home server. They are just yeeting the whole block of 2.4 million IPs, they just haven’t gotten the message out to everyone at that point. Looks like either I fix a work around or I leave Plex.

I’m migrating to jellyfin as a backup. I only host locally, anyway.

Seems jellyfin with IPTV is going to be better then the plex VoD.

Yeah I am looking into Emby/Jellyfin as well as a couple of other workaround options. In general very disappointed in Plex’s decision. If they banned it from Shared IPs I would get it, but as someone who has a dedicated IP with Hetzner this is just seems extremely overzealous.

Is any of you guys unable to associate a file to a movie? I’m asking here because I’m using Hetzner and I think they could have blocked already some parts of the routing.

What’s 2.4 million IPs refer to? Is that the size of the Hetzner block?!?

And yet here you are. Still haven’t fully been able to move on.

For anyone thinking this is just hetzner - what happens when everyone plex blocks on hetzner goes to another provider?

If you cloud host, plex has clearly said: ā€œthis is your time to move onā€

I guess it’s easy to spot your own kind

To be fair Plex once said ā€œHosting your server and media in the cloud was the futureā€

Good old Plex cloud. I miss it so much.

Some people are over the top. Need to be talked down. Thanks for noticing my efforts though

I saw the drama unfolding on r/selfhosted and couldn’t help myself.

It took me longer to figure out my account info than it did to post.

Who cares what Plex does. Implement your workarounds and be done with it. Could be done by now. Less talk more action.

This isn’t even my screenshot but here ya go dummy https://i.ibb.co/7YWwYrg/76-BB280-C-42-DD-4240-A734-2-E93-E146495-F.jpg <10M 4k is literally potato, 5k I can’t even imagine

For people who are upset about this? How many people do you share your media with? How fast is your internet upload speed? Hetzner costs $40 a month? So for two years you are spending $960 and you can’t afford to self host?

LOL you’re totally right. I self host and it’s way cheaper. I also have gig upload on fiber though. I do still have a dedicated server but don’t use it for Plex.
