Not authorized to connect to server after account hacked

Server Version#:1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: Version 4.66.1

My account was hacked with my email being changed. I was able to set my email and username back, but I do not have access to my server.

I have tried to Linux

  1. In your text editor, remove the following attribute/key pairs from the Preferences.xml file:
  • PlexOnlineHome="1"
  • PlexOnlineMail="jane@example.com"
  • PlexOnlineToken="RanDoMHexIDecIALtoKeNheRE"
  • PlexOnlineUsername="ExampleUser"

I have also attempted to claim the server using serval different methods. The Preferences.xm list my username and email after I claimed the server, but I am still not able to access my server.

It is on a remote machine, but everytime I try to access the local http://XX.XX.XX.XX:32400/web/index.html I will get the web client or every once in a while I will get not authorized.

I have tried different browsers, in incogneto mode, reset the sever after each change attempt. I have also tried removing Plex and reinstalling. I am at a complete lost. I use QuickBox for the install script if that matters in anyway.

How do you establish a “local” connection – are you using a SSH tunnel or remote desktop session? It’s not enough to use the server’s public IP… this needs to be an actual local connection (=from within the same subnet)

I have always in the past used the public IP of the server. It is a box that I do not have physical access to.

I connect using ssh for commands and sftp to transfer files.

I am going to attempt to do a VPN connection to the Server and see if that works

I was able to VPN and now I have access. I guess it was a change at some point, since I never VPNed to it before

Thank you Tom80H

No change. I suppose you opted to sign out all devices when changing the account password. „All devices“ includes the Plex Media Server… so you had to reclaim it. Linking your server to your account always required a local connection.
