HELP! Lost Server and cant get it back

I downloaded a home plex network the other day, Server on my windows PC, on my mobile phone and on my TV, it worked so well. i wanted to share my Server with family away so i got them to setup an account and we tried for hours to get them connected to my server. i could add them as friends, give them access to my server but they could rarely access it.
stupidly i thought maybe if i use my account as a dummy account maybe they can sign in under my name. so i changed my password and lost the lot. i have read the quick fixes of deleting the certain files needed after a password change but they didnt work.

so now i have server on my PC and plex, but when i log into plex it says i need to download server.
i have uninstalled and re installed both server and plex but still same issue.
i would also like to figure out how to work remotely through other usernames?

Thanks Gooba.

When changing your password, there’s an option to sign-out all devices. This includes the server itself.

If you did that, you’ll need to re-claim your server in order to be able to access it from your devices.
That’s the same as deleting those lines from the registry (which make your server forget it’s been linked to your Plex account).

Keep in mind: in order to claim your server, you’ll need to access it locally using the bundled version of the web app. If you’re on the same machine → open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web… this should show your server as it used to be… go to Settings > [Server Name] > General and sign the server in with your Plex account.

Did you enable remote access for your server and already have a look at the related troubleshooting support article?

There’s also a guide with some more details on how to troubleshoot remote access issues.

Thanks Tom,
i did sign out of all devices, and i tried to sign on with the IP which is how i accessed it before,
i tried that IP address you wrote and it says ERR_connection_refused

as for the remote access, yeah i did enable remote access. if i ever get back to where i was i will look over that link again and see if i can fix the remote access.

The other thing that may not help here is i have moved the Laptop to different networks and my IP isnt static so i believe its changed and now i am not sure what it was originally. is there a way i can see what ip the server is set to?

Windows 10: Settings → Network → Properties. Should be similar for Windows 11.

Also, make sure the network is Private, not Public. If Public then it is isolated from other devices on the network.

thats the IP of the machine, is there a way to see the IP that i set the Server up on or is that gone now it has changed?

just double checked and network is set to private!

i realised i entered it wrong. i can use that link on chrome and it comes up with plex and signs me in. but when i click on my media, it says to download server, which i have already done - it used to have my server there but now no longer does even on the web client.
