Apparently almost back … my primary live action movies library still contains all my movies and the ones I randomly tried to play work. The one I added to test was detected and added.
I checked IMDB, TheMovieDB and the file’s metadata to see if I could find where the wrong (2001) date came from and all three say 1997. So I went to the library to see what agent is configured and …
…there are no folders in the library according to the library edit panel, so I cannot even access the advanced page to see the configured agent.
I checked several other movie and TV libraries and they all still show all their folders. So only the primary movie library got hit. Optimizing the database didn’t help. Sigh. Plex often seems to be made of crystal and lace … it looks beautiful, but it breaks far too easily.
Oh well, at least it is mostly working, except for some incorrect metadata from whatever server is doing the matching for that library. I’m going to let it rest for a while so I don’t get too frustrated and break it worse. Thanks again for all of your help!
Unfortunately - it’ll be tomorrow before Plex sees it.
… and the problem is Plex is paying way too much attention to the English Release - 'cause there’s some really brain dead users doing really brain dead things over there. The Movie has an official release date. Users are putting in dates like - “the date I saw it down at the Cineplex” and Plex is immediately leaping on board that wagon - yea baby!
I expected to see a 1997 and then another 2001 for the ‘re-release’ at which point Plex will gladly leap to the newest year… the wrong year. In this case there was just one Bogus Year - so not having any idea exactly when in 97 this thing was born - I just changed the year.
Hand edit your year - and when things like this happen - check TMDB.
That’s what I do – when I notice. My concern about not quite being back was the “missing” (but not missing) folders in my movie library and my inability to access the advance tab in the library edit panel because it shows no folders in the library. Despite still having all of the movies and detecting new files added to those folders. That’s just wrong, but I’m not gonna poke any more for a while because I’m liable to make it worse in my current mood. :-/
Well - those log files could come in handy. They contain all new stuff now. Scans and matches and looking for folders that are missing but aren’t missing…
Somebody stops by… sees some log files… takes a peek…
