Not enough disk space error

man, i am just really frusterated with plex right now. it used to work great then my motherboard crashed so i had to rebuild my server and hard drives. now i get the stupid error “not enough disk space to start the recording” all the damn time. it fails on at least 1/2 of all recordings. i have everything configured correctly referring to permissions and selinux because 1/2 of recordings do not fail and there is plenty of room on the disk because it is a 6tb disk with only 9% used…

it would be great to get some help on this. i am REALLY frustrated right now…

The error message isn’t all that helpful but the logs are clear…
You forgot to give user plex permission to write to the transcode directory.

There are over 250 instances of this error.

Sep 08, 2019 15:18:17.431 [0x7fe891ffb700] ERROR - Error creating directory "/hds/hdd/transcode": boost::filesystem::create_directory: Permission denied: "/hds/hdd/transcode"

DVR recording uses the transcoder temp as part of how it works.

awesome, so i changed that. i knew it had something to do with the lost motherboard. i had two hard drives before and consolidated them to one so there is no hdd any more. but does plex only transcode half the time? what was so confounding is that it works 1/2 the time but the other 1/2, it fails. that would seem to me to be a global issue that would fail 100% of the time…

Plex will capture to the .grab subdirectory in the target library
If you ask for conversion afterward, it will transcode into final form if needed.

This isn’t a “motheboard” issue (hardware). This is purely a “how to use Linux issue”.
