Recordings missed - Not enough disk space

Server Version#: 1.15.4.993-bb4a2cb6c
Player Version#: rasplex latest

Hi,

PMS running on a headless linux server.

I’m having problems getting plex to record live tv reliably.

The only error given is “There is not enough disk space to start the recording” in the webgui.

Can anybody tell me what disk space it is talking about? There is plenty of capacity in the storage location and in the transcoder location. But the root mount is pretty limited - by design. Exactly what disk checks is Plex performing? Are they logged anywhere?

This is a pretty frustrating error, and it’s cost us a couple of important recordings. I have added storage to the transcoder directory, and I can clear out some capacity from the storage location.

I just need to know how much and where.

Thanks for your help.

Andy.

Edit: for clarity.

Live TV tries to grab 10-16GB where the transcoder directory is pointing to which is where Plex is installed unless you specified an alternate directory.

I don’t that’s my issue then.

I created a 120Gb disk and assigned Plex to use it as the transcoder location in the webgui.
I can see Plex consuming it when recording.
But I still got the “There is not enough disk space to start the recording” error.

Is it documented anywhere what tests Plex is conducting to determine available capacity?

Transcoder needs execute permissions, if you mounted the drive/directory off of /media then the execute is stripped.
