Since not so long ago I have users reporting they cannot stream content from my server, they are getting the error: Not enough streaming slots available for this user.
Using server version 1.5.5.3634.
At settings > Transcoding > Maximum simultaneous transcodes is set to Unlimited
Am i overlooking something here? Or is this a (known) bug?
Do you have an Upload Speed set on your server? If Iām not mistaken Plex will not allow this to be exceeded (there is actually a buffer at 80% so Plex wonāt use all of your upload speed).
This setting is under Settings > Remote Access ā Internet upload speed
Regardless of how many streams might be going or what individual, per stream upload limit you might have set (see below), the total used wonāt exceed the value set here.
Actually, I just found a setting at āNetworkā settings called External streams allowed by user. This was set to 1. I am sure this is the reason why the error comes up. Could be that I changed this myself haha⦠I will increase the value and see!

To my knowledge, this setting is to limit a user signed in to the same account on multiple devices from streaming more than a certain numbers of devices at once.
ex: your friend has a girlfriend, you allow your friend to stream your server on his phone, but he also has Plex installed on his ipad. Allowing 2 streams or more means they can both stream at the same time on seperate devices.
Itās the same kind of limits as Netflix and other streaming services.
I got the same error, but was able to clear it by viewing my devices and several of them were listed more than once. 4 web sessions, 2 sessions for the same Roku. After I took out the trash the issue was resolved.
