I have added several pieces of media to both movies and tv and they will nto show up. I’ve checked permissions, etc to no avail. I have been using PMS for a nunber or years with only minimal issues but this has me stumped for about a week now…
I am desperate to get this fixed. I am attaching my logs for review.
You don’t mention which particular movie won’t be found (or movies)…
From a high-level check of your logs, try to repair the database via Plex Web… there’s a number of database corruption errors
more of a side note: take a look at your file naming. There’s a whole bunch of names that will give Plex a hard time and could result in Plex not to scan those files at all.

Because you have so many music directories set to update automatically, the default Linux kernel table of 8192 directories is insufficient.
This is easily corrected. Due to the number of directories you have for music, I recommend increasing to 64K vs 8K default
SSH into the synology as admin using the admin password
Another issue, which may be related to the amount of media versus the speed of the processor is the database.

When the database is recovered / rebuilt, this should be monitored.
Are you able to point me toward a tutorial on how to do this? I am an extreme novice on how to SSH. I’ve owned this NAS since 2015 and its been a good workhorse but I’m mostly limited to the DSM interface.
Are you all recommending that I rebuild the database? Also, I have been contemplating upgrading to a DS918+ in the near future. Do you think this will help with use-ability and speed?
This IS intended for Linux. Ubuntu is Linux and uses the same Debian-based kernel as Synology
This is safe for all linux systems.
The best measure here is to find the exact number of directories in use and then size appropriately while keeping in mind each Kernel Notify table entry reserves 540 bytes of non-swappable kernel memory. Memory is a premium on NAS boxes so care must be exercised.
To count the number of directories actually used in several directories.
So, I’ve been thinking about this a bit. Is my real problem Plex or the NAS? I mean I have about 750 movies, 125 or so TV Shows most with multiple seasons and a crap load of music as indicated above by ChuckPA. I was hoping that PLEX was the real deal for the long term…now rethinking that too. My real problem is that I just don’t have the time to learn how to use Putty and tinker with the back end of my NAS. Any ideas for solutions on how to get past this?
Most my media resides on the root in the DSM predefined shared folders.
just above that is the name of my DS…so these are all on the root.
Most of my media is name correctly. I will say there are probably a few that are not but I have been adding a movie or tv show every week for two-three with no problem. Most loo like this under movies:
I see you have Plex highlighted.
If you have any media in there, PLEASE move it out. That’s not for media. That’s where PMS keeps its data. I made it visible solely for installing plug-ins and emergency log file extraction.
I would like you to go to the video share, Right-Click it Properties
Make sure user Plex has permission
Also make certain to apply to this folder, subfolders, and files (as I show in the screenshot)
done… the box was not checked which is weird. I have not changed ant settings in quite some time. All library files for PLEX have been updated but did not correct the situation.
Also, I’m unable to delete any libraries. I have tried to delete both the movie and TV library but they will not delete. I feel as though something is really messed up…
