Not generating episode posters for some episodes

Certain episodes for recorded TV content are not generating episode posters. I’m talking here of the episode posters generated by plex (screen grads), not those pulled from thetvdb.

I have done the following:

  1. Checked naming convention; all correct.
  2. Done the Plex Dance: Remove items, Empty Bin and then Clean bundles.

All these files where originally recorded by Plex DVR, so are .ts files.

This is quite a widespread problem and I have just been testing with:

  1. Gardener’s World matched to https://thetvdb.com/series/gardeners-world
  2. Smack the pony matched to https://thetvdb.com/series/smack-the-pony

Episodes that do not generate episode poster are:

Gardeners’ World (1994) S53E11
Smack the Pony (1999) - S01E02 - Smack the Pony
Smack the Pony (1999) - S01E03 - Smack the Pony
Smack the Pony (1999) - S01E06 - Smack the Pony
Smack the Pony (1999) - S01E07 - Smack the Pony

All other episodes generate the episode poster.

@anon18523487 was able to reproduce at the time and confirm errors with the transcoder and .ts uk broadcasts.

I thought this issue had been fixed. I’ll re-open the issue.

I can supply a link to all those files if you like. I also made sure the logs only contained adding those two series. I tried a number of times adding those .ts files. And I can find other examples in my library where plex did not generate an episode poster.

S1E7 & S1E9 of ‘normal people’, for example. So there is something the plex transcoder does not like about many recorded .ts file from plex DVR.

Today’s recording of: ‘Normal People (2020) - S01E11 - Episode 11’ did not generate a poster but Normal ‘People (2020) - S01E12 - Episode 12.ts’ did. Here are the logs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D3OXRmFKsoXWsUvV8MOR4MX64gAFWf0R/view?usp=sharing

Not at this time. I’ve re-opened the issue I had filed before. Let’s wait to see if the devs need anything.
