Not providing server logs at this time. This is my second attempt at getting this right; if I am missing any needed information, please advise so I can re-submit.

Lifetime Plex Pass member, here in Atlanta, earlier this year, CBS changed their local affiliates and a new tower and broadcast station and everything was built anew, as I understand it. When I scan for channels, I get all of the Atlanta channels I should, minus the block of CBS stations from 69.1 to 69.7. The station is relatively nearby and come in great on all other devices.

I can confirm with 100% certainty that the stations are online as I can pick them up with other televisions, and I can pick the missing stations up with the same tuner card via WinTV, the native app shipped with the card. I can also get the rest of the Atlanta channel lineup with the tuner card via plex as well. The issue is, for some reason, plex is not seeing it when scanning for channels.

That said, the OTA channels look amazingly good via plex. Just about better than my televisions built in OTA capabilities.. at least in plex, there is no menu that comes up and eats up my screen like the OTA app in Roku everytime there is a fluctuation in the signal.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any assistance in getting this working. Looking forward to getting this resolved, love and respect all

My kingdom for an update

@BigWheel Adding Big Wheel, is there anything I can do to get traction on this? Big big big love and respect for whatever help you can provide here, thanks in advance

I don’t see new info.on ticket. I’ll bump it but to be clear cannot guarantee they will add it at all.

Thank you, you are the first and only actual plex someone to reply and/or acknowledge this issue. Let me know if any further information is needed, thanks again

Imma be honest, I don’t think thats a good answer, considering how much I paid for my plex pass, which includes the Live TV features. Other people in other cities are getting their missing channels added. This is one of the major networks, CBS, in my states capital which is a major US city - don’t act like I’m crazy for submitting this request or expecting this to be added.

How can I help get this escalated to the correct party and get this effectively over the finish line?

There is no other avenue. We report directly to Gracenote that provides EPG

Looking at the EPG for that postal code. all the channels appear to be there in the EPG.

They match what i see on TvGuide and Channel master.

Do you see them if you go into the guide setting to remap channels?

Let me say first that I appreciate the assistance in trying to get this corrected.

I just deleted the ‘DVR’ and re-added everything from within plex, and rescanned for channels.

Unfortunately, it is still not picking up CBS.

In this snip, I’m trying to show that I am at the very, very bottom of the list of detected channels, and the highest channel number plex can detect is 66.1

Now, when I hit the drop down menu for a channel, the CBS channels are listed in THAT field

However, changing that to CBS for any given channel, and I’ve tried this a couple of times - Just now, I took 66.1, WYGA, and selected 69.1 in the dropdown menu. What that did was - I’m still looking at the WYGA feed and channel, except the channel info shows CBS, but its not the actual CBS channel and feed. This applied the wrong channel properties and guide information towards the wrong frequency. I’m unsure how to explain this properly.

Allow me to iterate once more that this same computer, the same exact TV tuner card is able to pick up CBS with no issues under a different program, and that I am able to pick up CBS loud and super clear on other television sets. Plex for whatever reason is refusing to see or recognize. And its just plex, other applications are able to see and tune into CBS instantly with no, no issues.

Is there a file I can edit to force plex into seeing these frequencies?

What could I be doing wrong here otherwise?

Thanks again for whatever help I can get here

The data on the left is what we get from the tuner. Are those channels encrypted? Wd don’t have licence to decrypt those. nor AC4 audio. THose are usually ATSC3 channels which we cannot play..

When you go the the tuner URL directly what does it show?
What sorta tuner do you have?

As far as I know, none of the channels are encrypted. But again, the same TV tuner card is able to pick the CBS channels in question with no issues - same computer, same exact physical TV Tuner card, different program. So, we know the card itself is physically capable of detecting and tuning into the channels in question.

The TV tuner card at hand is a WinTV-HVR-2255, as outlined in the original post. This is a PCIe card that connects to the computers motherboard and does NOT have the ability to pull an IP address of its own. There is no URL for the tuner itself. The TV tuner does not have its own networking capabilities, The computer its connected to has an IP address, as it hosts Plex, but the TV tuner card itself does NOT have its own network adapter.

I can’t find info specifically on their site but Google Search says WUPA does use Next Gen TV which is ATSC3 which has DRM (encrypted) which means we cannot play it which is why it does not get loaded into the channel list on the left of the channel mapping window.

If software came with the tuner card should to be able to pull up details from it.

Again, I don’t want this to get lost in the back and forth here - I appreciate the help here

So, here is what I’m not understanding - there are other channels in the Atlanta market that are ATSC 3.0 that Plex is able to pick up with no issue. Essentially all the other major networks are broadcasting in ATSC 3.0 - ABC, FOX, NBC, ANF, and Peachtree TV, all of which Plex is able to pick up without issue, along with their subchannels.

Also, the WinTV-HVR-2255 tv tuner is a fairly old card, and does not support ATSC 3, which leads me to believe that the station is broadcasting a backwards compatible signal that works on ATSC 1 devices, as this card can only do ATSC 1

Is there a file I can edit or a way to manually map the signal?

No because we are not picking up the channel because it is likely DRM and when I Google searched it says it does have DRM. Many new channels are. It was probably part of the upgrade the station did.

So in banging my head against the wall here, the TV tuner card doesn’t handle DRM at all. I’m not sold that DRM is the issue - since I was able to get a snip of The Family Feud w/ our good friend Steve Harvey while digging into the settings and looing into the card overall

Just thinking out loud, and I’m open to all the suggestions, would/could this be something that turning on verbose logging and rescanning would reveal any lending information?

I would not turn on verbose logging yet but if you rescan for channels then grab logs zip file I am happy to ask the devs to take a look at them.

I moved this from the EPG category because it isn’t an EPG issue but pulling the channels from the tuner.

I was able to delete and re-add the ‘DVR’ and did a new scan. Of course, it still doesn’t see CBS, but I’ve attached the logs. Unsure how helpful it’ll be considering this has been like pulling teeth so far, but logs are attached.
