Not possible to differ two movies

I tried everything, to split them, to add a IMDB tag, to “Fix Match”, but at the end they are always treated as one and same movie. Seems the IMDB tag has no effect.
Why does that happen?
How can I force Plex, to treat them as two different movies?

Thanks

The one thing I notice is that the tt9138170 movie is listed on IMDB as a 2020 movie. You might try correcting the year in your folder/filenames and see if that helps.

The second one shows it is in 2020 on IMDB Limbo (2020) - IMDb

but you should be able to split them apart first then do a fix match on whichever needs it. In the fix match search make the year field blank and just enter the imdb number tt9138170 or tt14032696 in the Title field

Thanks, tried that. Problem is not looking up the right movie, problem is that Plex combines them again as one movie, even when I split them apart and match them separatly.

Which agent are you using? I had to fix match one of them but it never combined and what is the full folder path that was added to library settings

That is interesting. Agent of the library:

So what is the difference?

I’m using same agent. It’s why I asked for the full folder path.

It’s a mounted folder from a NAS: /mnt/station11/Torrent/_Torrent/.
I changed the year of a movie, seems that Plex doesn’t combine them anymore, but now wrong resolution.

odd. I didn’t take a screenshot but it worked for me with 2021 as well. I just tried both.

ok so that is the folder added to the library settings? if so then that is good.

not /mnt/station11/Torrent/ which i could see making things combined

Limbo (2020)/Limbo (2020) {imdb-tt9138170}.mkv

and

Limbo (2021)/Limbo (2021) {imdb-tt14032696}.mkv

Both show up independently and matched correctly named this way

The obvious difference is I’ve eliminated all the file info. The scanner should ignore all that with the imdb number but maybe it’s not working right

Enclose that info in square brackets and Plex dance it to see

Aside from that, there is a problem. Even though both movies get matched seperatly and correctly the search is still combining them

If you search for the movie name only this one shows up with a +1 like there’s a 2nd copy of only one movie

odd, thanks for noticing that.

Part of the problem is most likely TMDB, where Limbo (2021) doesn’t come up in a search at all, but
智齒 does.

They both came up in search for me. but there were a surprising number of movies named Limbo and I had to go to 3rd page to see the other one

Ah, you’re right, but something is still off with that listing, because a search with the year included yields no results.

Thanks for the help.
Why would the path /mnt/station11/Torrent/ be a problem? Because of the subfolder _Torrent, an additional hierarchy?

Yes, for me even worse:

I think if you point Plex at the first folder /mnt/station11/Torrent/ ← the Plex scanner would think that everything in the last folder _Torrent folder belonged to one show.

It would try combine all your shows into one giant mess

yes it is expecting the next folder to be an individual movie or show folder. If it is not then it often just finds the first file, takes the naming from that and treats the rest as duplicates like in your first screenshot.

The search thing is a different issue which is there is a bug report for.

We also always strongly suggest not using Downloads type folders which are always changing to be a library folder.
