Hi Guys,

Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software):

Apple TV 3 with 6.0.2 (6646.81.1)

The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS):

192.168.192.5

The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on:

Mavericks 10.9

The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:

192.168.192.5

The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

Mac mini Late 2012 (See signature) with Mavericks 10.9

The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put ‘latest’):

0.9.8.14.263-139ddbc

The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

192.168.192.5

The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any testing branch e.g. the Elan/PlexInc one.

10th December 2013

The content of your ‘Settings.cfg’ file (if you do not have this file you are running an old version, please update)

[PlexConnect]

port_pms = 32400

port_webserver = 80

ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0

certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem

ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8

loglevel = Normal

enable_dnsserver = True

logpath = .

ip_pms = 192.168.178.10

enable_plexgdm = True

hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com

port_ssl = 443

enable_webserver_ssl = True

prevent_atv_update = True

port_dnsserver = 53

enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True

A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better):

First PlexConnect worked on both Apple TV as expected. A few days later, both Apple TV are telling me, that Trailers is not available.

Ensure you post your ‘PlexConnect.log’ file to pastebin and post the link (‘PlexConnect.log’ is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a “more detailed fresh” one:

in ‘Settings.cfg’, set loglevel to “High”

restart PlexConnect

repeat the issue

close PlexConnect and post log.

in ‘Settings.cfg’, set the loglevel back to “Normal”

Question: Where can I change the loglevel to high? I cant find it.

Thank you in advance!

Did you update PlexConnect, the ATV or PMS since it was working before?

Are your network drives mounted properly?

Have you tried rebooting all devices (Mac, ATV and router)?

No there was no update.

The drives are mounted correct and I also tried a reboot of all devices.

Hmm weird.

You can change your log level to “High” (not the capital H) in settings.cfg, the log can then be found in the PlexConnect folder.

i tried again to start Plexconnect and got this error:

22:31:16 PlexConnect: started: 22:31:16
22:31:16 PlexConnect: IP_self: 192.168.192.5
22:31:16 DNSServer: started: 22:31:16
22:31:16 DNSServer: Failed to create socket on UDP port 53: [Errno 48] Address already in use
22:31:16 PlexConnect: DNSServer not alive. Shutting down.
22:31:16 PlexConnect: Shutting down.
22:31:16 PlexConnect: shutdown

How can I fix it?

You are using a DNS server already, there are two likely reasons:

-  You are running the server version of Mavericks OS

or

- PlexConnect is already running; try rebooting the machine running it and checking in the launchdaemons folder for a related plist that is starting it (maybe an older version) at boot

Where can I find this folder? And I am not running Mac OS Server.

3 possible places:

/System/Library/LaunchAgents

/Library/LaunchAgents

user’s individual Library/LaunchAgents directory

In /Library/LaunchDaemons/ I can find a file named com.plex.plexconnect.bash.plist with the date of 14th December.

In the LaunchAgents folder you named I cant find anything.

What should I do?

Remove the com.plex.plexconnect.bash.plist and reboot the machine.

You may have to start it manually after this but will see if that is the issue.

Now it shows:

23:15:09 PlexConnect: started: 23:15:09

23:15:09 PlexConnect: IP_self: 192.168.192.5
23:15:09 DNSServer: started: 23:15:09

23:15:09 WebServer: ***

But the Apple TV shows the same error message. The DNS is set to 192.168.192.5 but no reaction in the log file. Any idea?

Two questions: Will the daemon now start automatically or do I have to enter the terminal command every time? And how can I update PlexConnect (automatically)?

You will have to set it again to start automatically but it might be best to fix it first.

Do you get the same error if you reboot the ATV?

Yes tried it again yet but still the same error message.

Hmm try shutting down PlexConnect, deleting settings.cfg and then running PlexConnect again.

Actually scratch that.

- Backup up your certificates only

- Download a fresh copy of todays commit (latest source)

- Add the certs to new download and start PlexConnect

Okay I will do that.

Which command should I use to stop PlexConnect?

CTR+C when the terminal window is focused.

Its not working cause in the meantime I closed the terminal. When I try to start PlexConnect after the download of the new Version, I got the error message that it is already running.

Restart your machine.

You should not close the terminal window when manually starting it because it partly shuts PlexConnect down, preventing it from working or from being restarted.

I did it and downloaded the newest version (https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/archive/master.zip). Now I got this in the terminal and the Apple TV shows the same message:

00:10:06 WebServer: started: 00:10:06

00:10:06 WebServer: ***

00:10:06 WebServer: WebServer: Serving HTTPS on 192.168.192.5 port 443.
