The NOW PLAYING screen has the WRONG user playing the files. NOW PLAYING also shows the wrong episode of MASH being watched. In both cases PlexPy is correct.

I have the same issue
Surprised more people haven’t noticed the problem.
@cayars - I do not seem to be having that issue. Sometimes it is not reporting the playback status correctly (or at least does not always match PlexPy - which is currently unreliable), but it is not wrong with what is playing or by whom. I only have 3 users though (all in house family users) and not shared, so perhaps as the environment is scaled up it gets worse.
I can for example shutdown/restart my Plex server so everything is clean. Login as my dad on a desktop/notebook with PMP and play something and my Now Playing will show me playing on a Shield TV.
So it can be wacked across the board. Wrong TV show or series, wrong user, wrong device, wrong file info, wrong directplay/transcoding. Sort of like the picture I posted in the op post.
When ChuckPA and I were testing the network info stuff to generate logs for the devs to find the problem of the recent network issue we came across this a few time. I pointed this out to him and we grabbed logs and screen shots as well to give to the devs.
In my case PlexPy has always been correct and has matched the log files as well as who was playing and with the device. I’m running the latest PlexPy.
This has been around since at least 1.3.x release (didn’t go back further to test) and is still there in 1.5.2 version.
I’ve not noticed a difference between inside or outside users. Doesn’t seem to matter how or where they connect from.
I’m not saying PlexPy is perfect but in my case it’s been a whole lot more accurate then Plex Now Playing. Since PlexPy pulls this info via an API that seems to indicate to me the web interface of NOW PLAYING is goofed up.
I don’t have a lot of users connecting to me anymore as I once did. Now only 4 to 6 in the evening and a couple during the day. On a weekend maybe 6 to 8. I’ve helped two friends setup and run their own servers and their families so I’ve gotten rid of half of what was my steady users about 6 to 8 months ago.
When you friends start asking about accounts for each of their kids, their parents, a friend or two it’s time for them to get their own system. 
I know it has been an issue on and off for years now where they have to make corrections. I do wish they would bring PlexPy into the fold and get it working. I use PlexPy a lot, and it is typically close, but not always right either. One does wonder how it is hard to get this stuff right. Hopefully you guys were able to provide enough info to the devs to get them on the right path.
