Plex media server not available in Nvidia Shield (2019)

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

I bought recently the Nvidia Shield (2019) and when I select Plex the app starts, requests to signin and there is no question or other option to install or enable the Plex Media Server. I have tried resetting the app but it didn’t work. The Plex Media Server in PlayStore says it is not compatible with the device and it not possible to install it. Therefore, I’m unable to have Plex Media Server in my new device.
Is there a solution or I’m doing something wrong?
Thank you,
Philip

A server is only available on the nVidia Shield Pro, not on the “Tube” model.

You open the Plex app on the Shield Pro and go into its settings menu
(left side, all the way down)
There is a menu item in there which allows you to activate the server.

Ohhh… thank you!
It is very unfortunate that you don’t have this very important detail in your article about installing Plex in NVIDIA SHIELD, Setting Up and Managing Plex Media Server on NVIDIA SHIELD | Plex Support

This detail is indeed missing from this particular page.
I have submitted a request to get this changed.

what about the 2019 versions of the Shield that were previously capable of running PMS? Are there perhaps any release notes or statements from Plex that detail this change in functionality?

No change for earlier versions of the Shield.
These are more like the current “Pro” version.
