Hi, I was having issues with buffering while playing 4k HDR Remux files on my LG B8 client. With some searching I found people saying that the ports were not able to carry sufficient bandwidth to stream the high res content, so I got an Nvidia Shield (not pro). I am still having the same issues with stuttering and buffering.
Everything is hard wired. Shield runs into a Denon X1500H receiver which outputs video to an LG B8 and audio to a 5.1 system.
I am kind of a beginner with plex but I believe I have all the relevant settings set so that transcoding does not occur.
Example file in which stuttering occurs is:
[Akira.1988.JAPANESE.2160p.JPN.BluRay.REMUX.HEVC.TrueHD.5.1-FGT]
mkv, 83.5GB, 95796kbps bitrate.
Please let me know if additional information is needed, I am not sure what else to include. Thank you!
The Plex folk will probably want to see your logs and maybe the XML data for the file. Here are some links on how to get them:

Also, it looks like your client version is a bit behind. you might want to try updating that first and trying again.
That being said, you made me check out my copy of Akira. I only have the 1080p version from my blu-ray but it does include the TrueHD 5.1 audio track (in addition to the AC3 5.1 audio track).
I am getting video pauses with the movie when I play the TrueHD audio track, but not with the AC3 audio track. The video will pause while the audio continues.
I went and checked a handful of other video’s with TrueHD audio and all of them played except Batman Begins. Again, AC3 5.1 worked but Dolby TrueHD 5.1 failed at the very beginning of the movie.
Not sure if we are having the same problem or not.
Do you happen to have the AC3 audio track on that file? If so, does the movie play smoothly using that?
I’m running a 2019 Shield Pro (non-tube) into an LG C9 connected to a receiver with eARC.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will try to grab the logs soon to upload. So strangely enough, the English TrueHD 5.1 audio works and does not cause any buffering. I have no idea why the Japanese TrueHD 5.1 causes lag.
Also, you said that my client version is out of date. Could that be because I am using a beta client? I only received my Shield in the mail yesterday and set it up as well as updated all the apps to their latest version. The Play Store doesn’t seem to let me update that client any further.
I’m not very knowledgeable about all this stuff but from all the posts I’ve read, the Plex team usually want to see the logs, so that is why I suggested it.
Man, I have no idea when it comes to these audio files and how they play or don’t play.
As far as the beta version goes, I’m also in the Android TV beta program and I’m on version 8.1.0.17967 and I got that from the Google Play store, so I’m not sure what to say. That is a bit odd that it won’t let you update anymore.
