I use the Shield as my primary player, and I found today that clicking the Plex icon on the Shield OS now takes me to the store page, where I then have to click “Open” to launch Plex.
Did something happen in a Plex update where the “shortcut” to the app you place on the homepage loads the store rather than the installed app itself?
This happens to me occasionally. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to reboot the Shield. I’d be interested in knowing if there is another, quicker method, but rebooting has worked for me every time so far.
Ah, I rebooted the shield the other day, but wasn’t around to witness if that fixed it. Since I don’t reboot it that often, it hadn’t occurred to me to try it.
If this is the fix, then ok. I thought that maybe Plex had messed up the latest Android build where the “Plex App” shortcut pointed to the wrong executable (Windows guy here).
Windows guy here, too, and I assumed something similar. Not sure who is responsible for the problem, but it does happen periodically. It’s only frustrating when it happens when I sit down with someone else to watch something and I’m in a hurry.
