Nvidia Shield beta bugs might be lice

4 of the biggest issues I’m having with the new beta is as follows and logs are attached for unable to open Channel.

1st unable to open channel it just spins and gives no error code, see timestamp 7:04 p.m. on the 30th. Looks like in the logs it just repeatedly tries to open the channel. This happens quite often. Restarting the shield fixes it.

2nd turning on my shield leave me with a black screen in Plex and the only way to fix it is to click the back key.

3rd, speeding up the load times of channels is great but the audio Cuts in and out for up to 5 minutes before stabilizing when initially opening. May be a simple fix. If not maybe we can have an option to to increase initial load time. Didn’t have this issue before.

4th, random freezing while watching a Channel. The timer is still counting as if the video is playing. When I go on the server dashboard it doesn’t even show up on there. See logs at around 7:35 you’ll see a ton of different errors. @DaveBinM I had mentioned this to you a couple days ago and it’s been happening multiple times still even after updating the server a couple hours ago with the most recent update for public.

Thank you

Would much prefer we keep things public, so everyone can see what’s going on, but happy for logs to be sent privately.

  1. We’ll need to look into this
  2. This is known and being discussed internally
  3. This is known and should be improved in the latest version of PMS
  4. We’ll need to have a look into this one too

Thank you, will do from now on.

If you’re comfortable posting them publicly (there’s nothing particularly identifying in them), then public is fine, just some folks prefer private

Thank you for the quick response. The audio cutting in and out doesn’t seem to be corrected on the latest public release of Plex server. Is it may be in beta still?

Hmm, I thought that was fixed, but I can take a look at it :psyduck_confusion:

Lol ok.

Is your Shield firmware up to date?
From what I recall their were two issues with audio dropouts and one was definitely an Nvidia issue.

Yep it is thank you for the response. This was an issue that was introduced with the live tv player overhaul:).

That was to do with HD audio, not Live TV

Ah fair enough. I need to read the whole thread better. Apologies to all.

After playing around for awhile I figured out the spinning Circle where it won’t let you open a channel is only if you select live TV instead of clicking on start watching X minutes ago.

Thanks for the extra info!

Hey @DaveBinM was just checking to see if you had any update on me audio issue? It’s still goes in and out on certain channels and I don’t think it’s really gotten better, it might have actually got worse over the past couple updates has now it causes the channel to stop playing after a while if it gets really bad. Only happening on The Shield’s not happening on mibox or roku’s.

Just checking to see if there’s any update? Still having the issue with the audio on Nvidia Shield only.

I don’t have anything further at this time, it’s still under investigation

Ok thank you:)

Hey Dave and anyone that’s having the same issue. I figured out that disabling the new video player fixes the audio problem for now, until it’s addressed. Didn’t even think to try that.

That’s not a long term solution though. When the old player goes away, those issues will still exist, unless we’ve had a chance to investigate

Can you get us a raw capture from the tuner of an offending channel, please?
