Entirely possible. So, you have a Shield connected to the C1, but is there also a receiver or a sound bar connected? What ends up processing the audio? Did you check if it’s direct playing?
It direct plays on both audio tracks.
No receiver or sound bar at the moment (renovations).
The TV is decoding the audio either as Dolby Atmos (major problems as described above) or Dolby Audio (no issues).
I thought maybe it was my rclone mount settings, but I’ve tried a few different rclone cli mounts with no change to how atmos is decoded.
Gotcha. Yeah, Rclone settings shouldn’t matter when it comes to audio issues, unless the whole file buffers. Maybe try a few more files with both TrueHD/Atmos and DTS-HD/X and report back. I’ll do some testing tonight.
Will do. I’ll try HDR10 DTS, and 1080p Dolby Atmos soon.
Come to think of it, DTS won’t work with your current setup. The C1 doesn’t do DTS, so the Shield will transcode in that case.
Annihilation 1080p Remux Dolby Atmos , perfect playback for the first 4 minutes.
Alita Battle Angel UHDRemux HDR10 Dolby Atmos,
Dolby Atmos tag was triggered 4-5 times in the first minute, but no audio abnormalities.
I also have the files locally, I’m going try playing them back on my Oppo UDP-203.
I’m also going try them on my 2017 Nvidia Shield Pro.
Ok, for sure an issue with either an hdmi2.0 cable or the LG C1. I found several people describing the same issue with Plex directly connected to the LG CX/C1. Apparently it doesn’t handle Dolby Atmos very well. Disabling Dolby Atmos on the TV and swapping hdmi cables seems to have fixed the issue. Lol.
Thought I might post here after for so long I thought this issue just wasn’t resolved.
About 34 minutes into a movie yesterday I started having the glitching issue as we have all learned to see.
I have an LG C1, however I am playing directly through a Samsung Soundbar
Sheild TV - Q950A Soundbar - LG C1.
I’ve just disabled eARC on the C1 and so far so good. Will report back if the issue returns, but thought that might be helpful. If your a C1 owner - your best to have your own audio setup considering DTS:X isn’t supported etc.
Anyone else having issues recently with playback after upgrading to Shield Experience 9.1? I’m not a 100% sure if it’s the same issue but I’m having buffering issues around 30minutes to 1hour into the movie when remote streaming. It’s not a BW problem because I have a 300Mbps link between the server and the client.
Most of my movies and videos with TrueHD audio play fine using my Shield Pro 2019, plugged directly into my Pioneer VSX-LX505.
On one movie, ripped from disc to MKV using MakeMKV (no compression done), the audio skips. Audio info is as follows:
Audio #1

It fine with other apps on my Shield.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Sorry wrong audio details were pasted above… The above 2 channel doesn’t skip.
Here is the detail for the audio that DOES skip:

This is the cause. A while ago, we thought 96 kHz and higher had been fixed, but it still skips.
What disc is that, if I may ask?
I have a shield 2019 pro, lg c1, Samsung soundbar q990b using eARC and chose HDMI 2.1 cables anyhow with audio pass through.
I found this thread on google. My videos played to external VLC from plex, using an example Spiderman Blu Ray quality truehd file has colorful glitching at top of display, video stutter below but audio seems to play.
This does not happen when playing the media file from VLC and load files directly. This behaviour is happening on playing from plex client only.
Turning off eARC is not something I’m willing to do. Thanks, passing the note along. Will play external player direct for the time being.
Celine Dion: Live in Las Vegas - A New Day [Blu-ray] just purchased from Amazon.
Gotcha, and hello to another fellow AVSer ![]()
His audio is not TRUEHD, and as such the post is polluting this thread. I don’t get any skipping on 96kHz TrueHD using Shield PRO 2019 and Denon AVR. There should be another thread if there is a 96kHz bug for some devices or situations. Let’s keep this thread clean guys. Thanks.
No offense, but if you wanted to stay strictly on-topic here, this thread could and should have been closed months ago, as the original issue has long been fixed. Since then, we’ve been discussing the sync issue with seamless branching titles as well as the dropout issue with bitrates of 96 kHz and higher.
@Achilles did some testing and found that the latter is still a problem, but not with every receiver, apparently. I can also confirm that 96 kHz files skip. What I did not know, because I don’t have any such files to test with, is that PCM tracks are affected as well.
Either way, this thread has been used to discuss audio issues with a Shield/Plex setup, so in my opinion what @Mark_Venture posted is absolutely appropriate here. If anything, the thread title should be changed.
