TrueHD audio fails after last update

Server Version#: 1.25.8.5663-7000
Player Version#: 9.0.1.31729 (bc3395ec)

My Nvidia Shield autoupdated my Plex Player on April 1st to the above version.

Ever since the update any 4k movie I try to play, using the TrueHD audio track, fails to play and crash closes Plex after showing the egg timer for a few minutes.

After a lot of diagnosing I rolled back the Player version to the last one I had - 8.31.2.31546.

This resolved my problem.

It looks to me like the April 1st (ironic) version is still in Beta so I don’t know why it would be released the the public.

Anyway. Hope this helps anyone facing similar issues.

A long thread on the topic: Nvidia Shield Dolby TrueHD playback is borked

From reading the thread, 8.30.2 appears stable. The latest 9.1 beta looks promising. The new demuxer seems to help the situation.

Thanks for the reply.

Version 8.31.2.31546 has resolved my issue so I’ll just leave my Shield running that version until a new, ‘known stable’, version is out there.
