Nvidia shield losing connection issue

Server Version#:1.13.9.5456
Player Version#:7.7.2.7701

Hey there, first time posting here.

I have a 2017 nvidia shield hooked up to my tv accessing my plex server which is running off my pc. It is connected to my network wirelessly as ethernet isnt possible as my modem is upstairs and loungeroom is downstairs.

Every so often my content will stop playing and show the “plex has lost connection to server” error message then about a minute later my shield will lose connection to my internet all together.
I also have an xbox one x using plex as well and no isses seem to be present there so it seems isolated to the shield. Content being played is a mix of x264, x265, HEVC 4K and 1080p, doesnt seem isolated to a particular file type. Network is 5ghz and strong connection as well. Already tried turning off IPv6 and stopping the live channel app on nvidia shield as some people have said that helps.

Anybody have any info on this and could help me out?

Thank you

Since you didn’t mention what router you using, I’m guessing you are using the one that your ISP gave you. If it is then I’m guessing that is your problem. Those modem/router combos are real bad.

Sorry forgot to mention that. Im using a netgear nighthawk d7000 nbn modem router so I dont believe thats the issue.

You can trouble shoot it in a coulple of ways.

  1. If possible can you run a ethernet cord from your server or router straight to the shield? Or even move your shield closer to the router just to test if it still continues.

  2. Try to connect to 2.4ghz and run 1080p movies. See if it still has problems.

It just seems to me you are to far away to have a stable connection to the Shield. And 2.4ghz may not be strong enough to push 4k content.
