nVidia SHIELD Media Server not creating thumbnails in the library

Server Version#: 1.4.3.3433
Player Version#: 4.8.4 (Web)

I’ve created a library on my nVidia SHIELD server, but I see that the thumbnails are not being generated. In my PC server, whenever I add a video, it creates a picture of it from a frame in the video (for home videos), but on the shield it does not work.

Any idea on how to configure this? Is this a known bug?

Thanks a lot
Kind regards

Your server version is hopelessly outdated.

With storage space a rare resource on a Shield, you don’t wanna enable the generation of video preview thumbnails there.

I know, but is there a newer version of the SHIELD server or not? I understand that I have the latest that they’ve released.

As for the thumbnail creation, I think that it stores them on the external drive, not the internal one, so the storage should not be a problem, right?

No, you have the one that comes pre-installed with the Shield. Update it through the app store.

Only if you moved the Android app storage (not sure how they call it exactly on the Shield) to this external drive.
If you just plug in an external drive with media files on it, it doesn’t help. The Plex data will still be stored on the internal storage flash memory of the Shield (which is quite small, [depending on the model])

Oh, I see, thanks a lot man! This was so confusing, I’m not used yet to the Plex interface, I couldn’t find the way to update it. I see now that I first have to add the Play Store, then open it and it asks you to update.

You’re a life saver, thanks so much for the guidance!
