I have been running Plex on my Nvidia Shield 16Gb for a little while. I decided to connect an external hard drive to my router and have the Plex Server access my files there. After doing all of this, the server worked fine for a couple of hours. the next time that I tried accessing the server I found the message, “Nvidia Shield Server Offline”. I have not been able to get it back working. I have read that this is a bug and that potentially the only way to solve this is thru a factory reset.
What kind of external hard drive? Is it a NAS drive? It would have to be a device that has an IP Address. The IP Adress should be static so it doesn’t change and setup port forwarding to it.
Some people are seeing that problem after installing the latest Nvidia Shield Experience and latest version of PMS.
I experienced the problem a couple of times and then it went away. No idea why.
You do not need to factory reset. First, try accessing the server from another client such as Plex Web, to verify it is offline. If it is offline, just re-run the PMS setup from within the Plex client on the Shield.
